Specials & Enrichment
At Anniston Academy, we believe that a well-rounded education extends beyond academics. Our weekly schedule includes dedicated “specials” that enrich the whole child—nurturing creativity, emotional intelligence, and hands-on learning experiences.
-
Music Therapy (1 day per week): Led by a licensed music therapist, students engage in rhythm, movement, and song to support communication, emotional regulation, and social connection in a joyful, therapeutic setting.
-
Social-Emotional Learning (1 day per week): Led by a licensed clinical social worker, students build self-awareness, empathy, and healthy relationship skills through structured SEL lessons, games, and reflective activities.
-
Enrichment Activities (3 days per week): These rotating, student-led experiences may include life skills, art, movement, cooking, STEM projects, and community service—designed to spark curiosity and provide meaningful, hands-on learning. Because students help guide the direction of these classes, offerings may vary throughout the year to reflect their evolving interests and needs.
This structure ensures that students have daily opportunities to express themselves, connect with peers, and explore their interests in a safe, supportive environment.
