The Staff Sunshine Committee is dedicated to building a positive, supportive, and connected workplace culture. The committee recognizes staff birthdays, celebrations, accomplishments, milestones, and other special occasions while also providing encouragement during difficult times. Members help coordinate staff appreciation activities, small celebrations, morale boosters, and opportunities for team connection throughout the year. The committee works to ensure that all staff members feel seen, valued, and appreciated for the important work they do. Above all, the Sunshine Committee helps bring a little extra joy, kindness, and fun to the workplace.

The Family Engagement Committee focuses on strengthening relationships between Anniston Academy and the families we serve. The committee develops opportunities for families to feel informed, welcomed, involved, and connected to the school community. Members help identify family needs, gather feedback, improve communication, and develop resources and opportunities that support meaningful family participation. The committee may coordinate parent education, family support initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and other activities designed specifically to strengthen the school-family partnership. The goal is to create a collaborative environment where families feel valued as essential members of their child’s educational team.

The Community Outreach Committee focuses on building meaningful relationships between Anniston Academy and the greater community. The committee identifies and develops partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, healthcare providers, community organizations, and other resources that can benefit our students and families. Members seek opportunities for community service, donations, sponsorships, collaborative programs, and increased community involvement. The committee also helps connect Anniston families with valuable resources and promotes awareness of Anniston Academy throughout the community. Its goal is to ensure Anniston is not only supported by the community, but is an active and positive contributor to it.

The Social Media Committee helps share the story, culture, and everyday experiences of Anniston Academy with families and the community. Members help identify meaningful moments, student and staff accomplishments, classroom activities, educational information, and other content that highlights what makes Anniston unique. The committee contributes ideas for posts, photos, videos, campaigns, and recurring content while ensuring all content follows privacy and media-consent requirements. Members also help maintain a consistent, positive, and authentic representation of the school across social media platforms. The goal is to increase community engagement, celebrate our students and staff, and help families better understand Anniston Academy’s mission and approach.

The School Events Committee plans and coordinates celebrations, activities, and special experiences that bring the Anniston Academy community together. Members help develop event ideas, organize logistics, coordinate decorations and activities, and ensure events are engaging, inclusive, and accessible for all students. The committee works collaboratively with staff to plan seasonal celebrations, spirit activities, special school days, and other memorable experiences throughout the year. Events are designed with consideration for students’ individual sensory, communication, developmental, and support needs. The goal is to create fun, meaningful traditions that build school spirit, strengthen relationships, and give students and families opportunities to make lasting memories together.
