We’re in the News! Anniston Academy Featured for Meeting a Critical Community Need

Updated: May 3

We are honored to be featured in The UC Now as we prepare to open our doors to the Upper Cumberland community. The article highlights the heart behind Anniston Academy — a school created for families, by families who understand that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and successful.

In the words of our founder, Dr.. Kathryn DuBray:

“Each child and family brings a different story, and we’re committed to meeting them where they are.”

Our school is more than just a building. It’s a safe space for students with autism, ADHD, giftedness, and other learning differences to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally — all under one roof. With full-time care, embedded therapies, and a truly individualized approach, we aim to take the stress off parents and put the focus back on what matters: the growth and happiness of every child.

As our Principal Dr.

Erin Mekkaoui so beautifully shared in the article:

“This school is designed to be a one-stop shop that meets the deep needs of families in this region.”

We’re incredibly grateful to see our mission recognized and to be part of something bigger — a movement toward inclusive, therapeutic education that’s long overdue in the Upper Cumberland.

📍 Know a family who might benefit from Anniston Academy? We’d love to meet you. Enrollment is open, and hope is here.
