Unlocking Educational Opportunities: Tennessee's Education Freedom Scholarship Program

Tennessee families now have an opportunity to choose the best educational path for their children through the state's new Education Freedom Scholarship (EFS) program. This initiative aims to provide financial support for students attending private schools, including institutions like Anniston Academy in Cookeville.

What Is the Education Freedom Scholarship?

The EFS program is a statewide initiative designed to empower families with greater educational choices. Starting in the 2025–2026 school year, the program will offer 20,000 scholarships to eligible K–12 students across Tennessee. Each scholarship provides approximately $7,300 annually to cover various educational expenses, such as:

  • Tuition and fees

  • Textbooks and instructional materials

  • Tutoring services

  • Transportation costs

  • Educational therapy services

  • Technology and related expenses

How to Apply

The application window for the EFS program opens on May 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM Eastern Time, and will close on July 15, 2025. Interested families should prepare the necessary documentation in advance to ensure a smooth application process.
